MAGAZINE

Like many churches throughout the country, All Saints' has its own magazine which contains news and information about parish activities, as well as a selection of articles covering a multitude of topics!

The February magazine is currently available and copies can be collected from the back of Church or you can use the link below to request local delivery or by post.

The February edition includes lots of dates and information about Church events, as well as articles relating to local and national issues.  This is what Ruth says in her February Vicar's Corner:

For the new year of 2012 perhaps our prayers and motto should be "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God (Matthew 5.v.9) ~In June, 2003, the historic feud that began 125 years ago between the Hatfields and the McCoys over a stolen pig, finally ended!  Their descendants gathered in Kentucky to sign a peacemaking agreement that read: "We declare an end to all hostilities, now and forevermore. We ask that by God's grace we forever be remembered as those that bound together the hearts of two families."

Conversely, a newspaper recently reported that a group of Texas firefighters deliberately set over 40 fires!  When they were caught they said, "We'd nothing to do; we just wanted to get the red lights flashing and the bells clanging!". Jesus said, "Peacemakers....shall be called sons of God,",  because  just as the job of those firefighters was to extinguish fires not start them,  our  job  as Christians is to resolve conflict not to add to it.

This principle inspired St. Francis of Assisi to pen his famous prayer; "Lord make me an instrument of your peace! Where there is hatred, let me sow love, where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. Where there is sadness, joy. Divine master grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console,  to  be  understood  as to understand, to be loved, as to love.   For in giving  we  receive.   In pardoning  we  are  pardoned. In dying we are born to eternal life." Jesus was called "The Prince of Peace." To be like Him - start sowing seeds of peace.                                                  Yours in Christ. Ruth

Included in the various events that are listed in the magazine are dates for future church work parties - this is when volunteers come along to help with gardening, tidying etc.  Everyone is welcome and there is no need to be a regular church goer.  This photo was taken at a work party last summer:

The All Saints' magazine is produced monthly and the cost is 50p per copy.  However, if you wish to enjoy all 12 magazines during the year, then there is a reduced cost of £5.
